The item I was looking into was a photo documentary book with writing in which is titled “12 Million Black Voices” and is written by Richard Wright and photo-directed by Edwin Rosskam. This text talks about the different conditions that African American had to live with. This book uses images whether graphic or not to show the struggles, strength and cultural awareness of African Americans. This book relates to previous topics we have spoke about in class because it depicts the struggles in which Black’s fought to overcome. From showing terrible living conditions to showing to lynchigs we are able to see how bad their living conditions were literally and societally. It makes us think about how much better we have our present life and how better or worse the living conditions for past society’s were. I honestly did not think that the conditions were going to be as bad as the images showed but seeing it was really upsetting to see how what African Americans one day fought for, whether it was partaking in sit ins or portraying their anger and frustration through art, has now been at least somewhat of a push for better economical society.
